Importing Personal Goods into Australia

Whether imported by air or sea, personal effects can be subject to a Quarantine inspection to ensure the cargo is free of any biosecurity risks.

Documents Required

The B543E document is required for all personal effects shipments, along with an itemised packing list.

​

Importers photo ID for identity verification (drivers license or passport). 

​

Personal vehicles including; cars, boats, trailers, and more, will require an import permit prior to shipping from origin.

Duty & Tax

Duty & tax: Items of household goods and personal effects owned and used by you or your relocating family members for a minimum of 12 months prior to packing may normally be imported duty and tax- free (items with the exception of alcohol, tobacco and motor vehicles) . Should duty and or tax be applicable the rates vary depending upon the nature of the item.
